Day 14 – Walsenburg to Clayton

Our 14th day sees us going from Walsenburg, Colorado to Clayton, New Mexico – our sixth state.

Today however was to be the longest on the PAC Tour itinery at 156 miles along with 3500ft of climbing.

We basically transited through the south-eastern part of Colorado and crossed into New Mexico. The scenery started off as more typical Colorado as we traversed a high plateau at around 7000ft. Later on however the scenery became more like how I imagined New Mexico to be with high Mesa’s.

The day was hot and long but I felt pretty good. The hotel that night was a Best Western, one of the better places we have stayed in.

Stats for the day:-

Distance: 157 miles

Climbing: 3550ft

Temps: Topped out around 90f.

Perfect big sky country now buddy in New Mexico.
You will be seeing the VLA space centre soon and then are you off to San Jose?
Hope the bike is holding up well and that you are realy getting the most out of this trip!
See you when you are back. Nothing remotely interesting to report other than Sven Goran Erikkson is the new manager of ………….Notts County! And I am not joking!!!
    All the best.

      Not in a million years!!
In Oklahoma now – blog is a couple of days behind due to computer availability.
Bike is good. Tyres wearing quick due to heat / poor road surface.
Body is good. Legs are strong, backside is better than a few days ago but very tired. Need some good nights sleep.
      Russ.
